Control Room

Our spacious control room is comfortable and homely with a beautiful vintage Trident Series 70 console at its centre.

Cutting edge digital technology meets with a powerful collection of analogue outboard including a glorious EMT 140 valve plate reverb and painstakingly restored Studer A80 2” and Ampex ATR 102 1/2” tape machines.

Main monitoring is by Quested with NS-10s for nearfields. An extensive inventory of instruments, amps synths and effects are in situ. Please see the gear list for details.

Hand carved English oak studio furniture by Nick Hannan of HK Woodworks, sumptuous leather sofas and a roaring wood burning stove provide a unique ambience that exudes creativity, comfort and productivity in equal measures.

Live Room

Our expansive live room has gained recognition as one of the best acoustic spaces in the world. Thunderous drum sounds are captured just as easily as intimate acoustic performances.

Wooden floors, stone walls, a high pitched pine ceiling, plenty of natural light, a roaring wood burning stove and sight lines to the control room and booth all contribute to a homely and inspiring environment that begs for creativity to be unleashed.

The room excels for large ensemble tracking with space and facilities to support over 20 musicians performing simultaneously, yet an intimate feel is still retained for overdubbing.

A large collection of instruments are always available and included at no extra cost including a 1878 Steinway Model C concert grand and 1966 Yamaha U3 upright, see the full gear list for details.

Kitchen

The studio kitchen was completely rebuilt by Nick Hannan of HK Woodworks in 2019 using wood from two walnut trees felled on the studio grounds by the great storm of 1987.

Adjacent to the control room, it’s a sumptuous, homely and practical space to cook, eat, relax and even record. The dining area sits 12 comfortably, the bar is the perfect place to relax between takes and the galley kitchen has everything you’d need to prepare a quick snack or full Sunday roast.

Coffee facilities are comprehensive with a Rancilio Silva espresso machine, Mahlkönig and Gaggia grinders, Brewista pouring kettle, V60, Kalita and AeroPress filter brewers.

Whilst most clients self cater, full catering can be arranged.

MF Booth 1_KS.jpg

Booth

The main booth is attached to the live room with sight lines through to the control room. It is large enough to comfortably accommodate a full drum kit and ideal for isolating amplifiers, tracking vocals, or any instrument that requires a tight and dry acoustic.

Whilst often playing second fiddle to the main room, it’s gaining it’s own reputation as a fantastic drum tracking room, tight and punchy without being sterile!

The Pool Room

The Pool Room is situated in a separate building adjacent to the main studio above the bunk room.

It is currently configured as a shared space, studio owner Peter Miles has a mixing setup and his partner Alicia, Milk & Bone Design has a graphic design studio.

If you feel this space would be of use for your session, let us know and we’ll see how we can accommodate your needs.
